The AK1 is a small, EDC-capable fixed-blade knife that, despite its compact build, is ready for almost any everyday task. The reverse tanto blade brings a straight, reduced geometry and, thanks to its tapered grind, looks particularly clear, controlled and functional. The result is a custom knife with a tactical, slightly military character – without unnecessary gimmicks.
As the first knife series from Daily Knives, the AK1 marks a special step: designed and developed by knifemaker Alex Kremer, realised together with the Böker Manufaktur Solingen. This gives you a knife that cleanly brings together design, EDC function and high-quality manufacturing.
With the AK1 Reverse Tanto you can choose blade steel and finish to match your setup. Available options are CPM MagnaCut and RWL34™.
CPM MagnaCut is available in TwoTone and Stonewashed and, with its combination of edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness, is particularly well suited to a compact, fixed-blade EDC knife. The stonewashed finish underlines this utilitarian character: typical signs of use blend into the surface structure, so the blade continues to look consistent and well-kept even with intensive use.
RWL34™ is a powder-metallurgical blade steel with long-lasting edge retention, good re-sharpenability and a surface that can be finished to a very high standard. The Black and Topo variants have a matte PVD coating; the Topo version additionally features a topo laser engraving. These PVD-coated blades are supplied with matching PVD-coated screws.
For the AK1 there is a wide selection of matching scales as well as sheaths in Kydex and leather, with which you can specifically adapt the feel, look and character of the knife to your setup. The scales are screwed on and can be removed later with a Torx key and swapped for other variants whenever you want to give your knife a new look. If you order the blade and scales together, your knife is delivered ready-assembled.
A practical detail is the innovative lanyard tab: you can attach a lanyard, but also simply let the loop disappear into the end of the handle when not in use.
Configure your AK1
The AK1 is based on a modular system. Choose steel, finish, scales, inlays and materials to match your setup. In the AK1 Configurator you can view different combinations directly on the knife and build your AK1 exactly the way you want.
Note:
With screwed scales, moisture from your hands can occasionally get between the tang and the scale. A fine layer of rust can form there in places, which only becomes visible when the scales are removed. This does not affect the quality or function of the knife. To prevent it, we recommend occasionally caring for the area with a few drops of food-safe mineral oil, for example Ballistol.
