The AK1 American Tanto blade is the right basis if you want to customise a compact, fixed-blade knife with a striking line and high stability. Its precise contour runs into a pronounced secondary tip and a second bevel – typical of the American tanto style and especially practical for controlled, precise cuts. Particularly when opening packaging or with typical everyday tasks, this geometry gives you a lot of control and a robust tip.

As part of the first knife series from Daily Knives, the AK1 blade stands for a compact, everyday-capable fixed-blade concept. Designed and developed by knifemaker Alex Kremer and realised together with the Böker Manufaktur Solingen. It is made in Germany from a single continuous piece of steel – a high-quality basis for your personalised knife.

The blade is available in CPM MagnaCut or N690. CPM MagnaCut offers a strong combination of edge retention, toughness and corrosion resistance and is therefore particularly well suited if you want to use your knife regularly and versatilely. This version also uses the innovative lanyard tab: you can attach a lanyard if needed, but simply hide the loop in the end of the handle when not in use. The N690 version uses steel from Böhler, an internationally leading manufacturer of stainless and tool steels. In combination with the fixed lanyard tab, this variant enables a particularly attractive Made-in-Germany version at a more affordable price.

For the finish you can choose between TwoTone and StoneWashed. The decorative TwoTone finish emphasises the clear lines of the tanto geometry and gives the blade a high-quality, technical look. The StoneWashed finish is especially everyday-capable: thanks to the surface treatment, many typical signs of use blend into the structure, so the blade continues to look consistent even after intensive use.

The scales can be removed effortlessly with a Torx key and swapped for other variants. If you order the blade and scales together, your knife is delivered already assembled. A wide selection of matching scales as well as sheaths in Kydex or leather is available separately.

Configure your AK1

The AK1 is based on a modular system. Choose steel, finish, scales, inlays and materials to match your setup. In the AK1 Configurator you can view different combinations directly on the knife and build your AK1 exactly the way you want.

Note:

With screwed scales, contact with your hands can allow moisture to get between the tang and the scales. A fine layer of rust can form there in places, which only becomes visible when the scales are removed. This affects neither the quality nor the function of the blade. To prevent it, we recommend occasionally applying a few drops of food-safe mineral oil, for example Ballistol, to the tang.
